Kicking around the idea of selling my Haynie Bigfoot.

Thinking the next boat could be either the Haynie HO or the 25' Majek Xtreme.

I have ridden in an HO. But not the 25' Xtreme.

Anyone out there care to share their experience with the 25' Xtreme.

Especially interested in hearing from folks that have ridden in both the HO and the 25' Xtreme.

Thanks.

I’m just a rookie here and there are probably a hundred guys that own these boats waiting to pounce on any negative replies.

I will say that I don’t own either, but have fished from a handful of both of them. Both awesome boats. Haynie will build it however you want, you have a Haynie and know that. The Majek, not so much. The only thing I don’t like on the one Majek 25 extreme I’ve fished out of the most, is the water that comes in the back drain holes. I’m a big guy, get two of us back there and there’s water on the floor of the boat. Then, when you take off and get to speed, that water will swirl around because of the cap and get your back wet. Small thing I know, but gets on my nerves when it’s cool or cold outside.

Being able to design the layout is why I went with the HO. Also looked hard at the Tran XLR8 24. Both were about the same price with a 250 HP motor and equal rigging.

Water does not come into mine even with two people standing on the back corner to get a fish in. Between me and my brother that usually grabs that spot, we weigh in around 450 total.

Never been in a Majek 25, but they look well built.

I've fished out of a haynie HO a buuuuuunch. and I have owned a 25 xtreme for almost 5 years. I think I have hull #3

the HO is better in a chop, but will take more water to get up in. The majek is a little faster and shallower (like 5%). the 25 xtreme is quite a big bigger than the HO. the haynie magnum is actually slightly smaller than the 25 xtreme as well.

Haynie has improved their finishing quite a bit in the last 5 years since I bought my boat, but at the time, that was also a factor.

main dislike about haynie performance is at speed, they feel skittish to me. they just tend to slide around on the pad and makes the boat feel loose. That, and the fact the xtreme is bigger and was better finished at the time is why I bought it.

bigrebar... my boat does that a little bit, but doesn't have the cap. but I haven't seen that much water coming in from the back like the 22 xtreme does. I know I"m catching up to you, but I didn't think you were that big! LOL

You should probably compare a Haynie Magnum to an Xtreme. The HO(as well as your BF) is a foot shorter and about 8 inches narrower than both the Magnum and Xtreme. Your BF is an HO with a tunnel basically.

Hey Kyle, yes, I am THAT big!!! You got a long ways to go and lots of bud light to get there.

The 25 extreme that I've spent the most time in is a buddy of mine. He has a 300 Yammy on it and twin power poles, and he's as big as me. So, that's probably the difference. He keeps plugs in the drain holes to keep water out, but you get a little water in when you're dragging in fish and or the anchor.

On a different note, This was last night. Just an hour floating around the Laguna Madre.

I have a new extreme 25 with a zuke 300 and love it

I actually had a 25 magnum designed and ready to put $ down but I saw the extremes at premier on my way to Chris marine and after a 30 minute ride I changed my mind and bought the extreme.

Both are great and I don't want to make anyone mad comparing the two so pm me if you want the details. Lol

My extreme does not take any water at all thru scuppers even with 4 fat dudes on back getting ready to take off - 2 on rear seat and 2 on leaning post. Boat gets up surprisingly shallow and is very dry. Also very stable at high speeds. I'm getting around 60mph now loaded but still working on props so should see more.

Let me know if you have any questions

No quite comparing an apple to an apple

I have ridden in both, but the majority of my experience is owning and fishing out of the 25 Xtreme. Chris builds a solid boat, and his customer service is second to none. The Majeks build quality boats. Both can be configured however you want.

Direct comparison- the 25 runs a little shallower, gets up a little shallower, and handles rough water at speed better. The Haynie runs through chop a little smoother, especially head on.

You can order the Majek however you want, and in my opinion the finish is a little better. I have owned the 25 Xtreme with the tall console, and currently fish out of one with the JX2 console( bubble w/live well).

The wide deck and space on the 25 make it very fishable, especially with 4-5 people.

I had no issues with water coming from my rear scuppers, but I have had it on an older (2007) Illusion.

If you have any specific questions, send me a pm. If you want a demo, we can take you out in the Houston area, or I will set you up with someone in the Corpus Christi area.

There are plenty of happy 25 Xtreme owners on 2cool, most just don't want the drama of a boat to boat comparison. See the 300 Yamaha vs Evinrude vs Suzuki thread and you will understand.
