does any one know where i can get a deal on a new injection pump for a 1998 dodge diesal 24valve 5.9--best i have found so far is 1599.00 hope some on knows--thanks in advance on any info:idea:

Don't go for a bargain. Think quality and life. Too expensive and labor intensive to do twice. Find a reputable diesel injection outfit near you who will stand behind their work.

Are you sure it's the injection pump ? it could just be the lift pump.

That's about the going rate for the pump. I've got a tip for you that was relayed by the mechanic that repaired by Dodge. Always change the fuel filter every other oil change. remove the brass plug above the filter housing and let the fuel pour out when u bump start it to prime the filter. If the fuel does not come up, your primary pump is failing. The primary pump is located close to the starter. You'll hear it run but it doesnt pump the fuel up to the filter. The primary pump is only $100.00 compared to the $1600.00. Dealerships and most mechanics wont let U know about this. I had the same problem on my 99' Dodge. When the primary pump goes bad it causes the injector pump to work twice as hard thus burning it out. If you spray starting fluid down the turbo chute the engine will start. That's the sign that your injector pump is out. OUCH !!!!!

IBreeling... knows what hes talking about , ive been thru the whole deal in my 02 they say that they are famious for this. I hear that the fuel pumps in the tank are junk and ruin the injector you can also buy an aftermarket lift pump which helps. I installed a Fuel Pressure Gauge just to keep an eye on things. All this after only 53,000 on the truck and im still not very happy with Dodge. It wasn't cheap !

I build 12 valves and 24 valves out of my shop. i have a bunch of stock stuff from when customer's don't want there old stuff.

no not sure yet--the guy that is workin on my truck has the error codes that he read on his machine--he has figured out 4 of the 6 codes that he has but still has to figure out 2 more--he said that it was lookin that way twards a injector pump but he was not for sure im tryin to find a deal incase it is the injector pump because i have been walkin for 3 weeks and i want to get a jump on the process incase it is the pump:texasflag
