You very well might have seen me as I was there a few weeks ago running the exact area you just described. This is my rig
Its not an H Skiff though, mine is a conch paddleskiff made by R&R boatworks out of Florida. It has very similar dimensions to the H-skiff though but the H-skiff has about 5" more beam according to the specs I've seen.
I've seen the H-skiffs on various social media and they look interesting. The extra width would be nice, but I'm skeptical about all the posts they have with 2 people on them. Running with 2 people is one thing, but fishing with 2 people would be a nightmare. They also rig them with a lot of bells and whistles which would just ad weight and I'm sure price to it. I'm also a little iffy on the 15hp rating. I have a 5hp on mine and it goes plenty fast. Another 10hp in a rig like that just seems to be down right dangerous, but that's just me. The H-skiff also looks like it has a dead rise which is great for crossing open water but means it's going to draft a few more inches than mine which is flat bottom with strakes.
IMHO that style of boat including gheenoes and other nano skiffs are made for kind of minimalist shallow water fishing. Think of it as an upgrade from a kayak. You'll have more range than the soggy butts but you can still get into tight shallow places that would normally require an airboat. Overall the H skiff is another interesting nanoskiff concept and I would be interested in seeing what they're pricing them at. If it were me I'd get a bare bones one maybe with the little poling platform and slap an 8hp 2-stroke on it.
Anyways, as someone who runs a similar skiff, those are just my thoughts on it. I live in the Houston area and frequent Galveston so if you'd like to check my boat out to get an idea of what you'd be getting into let me know and maybe we can meet up.
