I spoke with Mrs. Gilley about them a few years back. Wish they still made that boat, I tried to talk her into one, but she just wouldn't do it.

 

Yeah they were not too happy with the the gentlemen they sold Gulf Coast too. And they absolutely love the 25' Variside. They called it the Barge of the Bay because it's so wide and long. And it surprised me when they walked out to look at mine. Because it was having some issues hull wise. But she took one look and immediately remembered the boat and the previous owners and everything they had to do with it

I really like those - it was high on my initial boat list!

 

Well I'm 25 yrs old. And went through a breakup with a girl I was with for 3-4 yrs and me and her dad always fished together. Well after the break up her dad wouldn't take me fishing anymore which was strange she left me. But regardless. I went looking for a boat and found the Gulf Coast. So I purchased it back in February. Put a brand new motor on it right away. Figured why not while I was spending the money. And now. The boat fishes mostly 5-35 miles offshore but does it's fair bit of bay fishing too. Talking with the owners it was originally designed to fish 5-10 offshore and the bay. So I'm completely satisfied with the boat

And don't worry about that girl or her old man if she took a hike on you. Bet she'll be a big ol fat girl in a year or so you'll still have a sweet boat. Hell of a trade out.

 

Oh yeah. Greatest trade out I ever made. Best part is her old man used to be a guide so I learned a lot about east and west matagorda bay and how to fish and when to fish and all the "secret" spots. So whenever I put my sled in the water. I can almost go directly to the fish everytime.. "Knock on wood"

I bought one of these from Red Wing at the boat show, when they first came out in 2000. I believe mine was hull #5. Loved it, just did not have enough time to use it.
