I'm just curious how your experiences compare with our own after Dolly.

How quick were they up and running with supplies including at least a decent selection of fresh fruit etc.?

Which retailer apparently made the best effort at opening as soon as possible with as much basic stuff as possible?

I'll post my own "research" later but don't want to skew the results.

It takes a lot of effort to get that done logistically (from my previous career) and so I'm curious how well they performed "by company" given the circumstances of the situation.

I was in a San Antonio HEB at noon today, and they had a "Hurricane Relief" bucket on the counter at the checkout stand for people to drop money into. I know this doesn't answer the question posted because the question applies to people in the hurricane-affected areas, but I just thought I'd put in 2 cents from other parts of this great state to let you know you're on our minds.

Our experiences were the same. HEB was really on the ball.

IMO FEMA might need to consider contracting with firms like HEB to do the actual logistics of deliveries after a storm. They already have the equipment, operators, locations and personnel.

My local Kroger has been wonderful. We actually have 2 of them very close to my house and both have been open since they got power back on. It's funny how you miss the little things after a while, and my morning ginger ale was definately one of them. Stacy got that and some milk yesterday.

My wife told me Froberg Farms between Manvel and Alvin. They sale fresh grown vegatables that are outstanding. The wife told me they had no power and were cooking everything in the freezer for the people buying from them. Two days later she went back and they had made a run west to one of the better meat markets and were selling meat at cost to anyone needing it. Great small town full of people helping others. I guess thats why I've stayed in Manvel and raised my family for the last 26 years.
