BUT…Ever want to be an official Boon & Crockett scorer? Or just want to learn to score your own harvest? Now's your opportunity! Attend the Texas Big Game Award Scoring School at Gander Mountain (Sugarland, TX) central meeting area on July 28th, 2006 from 9 a.m. to about 6 p.m. for a Texas Big Game Award Scoring School. The idea is to train people to be TBGA official scorers, then they can be available to score whitetailed deer, mule deer, or pronghorn eligible for entry into the awards program. Their contact information would be available to someone wanting an animal scored. It is important to note that this is a voluntary position. You can not charge for scoring an animal.
Also, there will be a charge of about $30 to $35 for a scoring manual, measuring tape, and kits. Additionally, participants will need to bring a carpenter's ruler and provide their own afternoon meal.
Participants will be trained by an official Boone & Crockett scorer. They will learn how to B & C score whitetailed deer, mule deer, and pronghorn antelope. Prior to the 2006/2007 hunting season they will receive a TBGA scorer's packet containing the updated rules, official entry forms, and a scorer's id number. Contact: David Forrester, District Leader, Wildlife Division District 7, Texas Parks & Wildlife Department at Telephone: 979-968-6591 or email: [email protected] to register. (More details will be provided later.)
August 21 - Topic: Bullet Construction and Ballistics Speaker: Larry Tatum, Southwest Regional Rep for QDMA What type of bullets should you use? The basics that every shooter should know about the bullet's flight from muzzle to target.
