Well, Full Stringer has flown the coop! She went with her cousin to sunny Fla. to watch Becky's daughter play softball in the USFA 12U World Series (A Bracket).

So far they are 6-0 and have only allowed 2 runs to be scored on them. Out of 36 teams, they are one of eight undefeated teams. Looks like it will be a busy day tomorrow because it is supposed to finish tomorrow evening.

Shannon plays several positions (catcher, short, centerfield and pitches). Last year at the tender age of 11, the radar gun said she was pitching at 54 mph.

Pat said a local reporter interviewed some team parents. Click here to see his report.

http://www.northwestfloridaonline.com/index.php/mbb_sports/ Scroll down the page and click "Read More" under the article about "Fanatical Softball Parents".

Edit: I found another link. http://www.usfastpitch.com/ Click on 12U "A" Bracket Results.

Go Sha and Texas Heat!

Here's a couple of pics from a previous tournament.

Man 54 MPH is smokin!!! I think the average pitch speed during the World Cup of Softball this past week was 63 MPH from much older women. Best of luck to them!

They hit a bump in the road...

The report out of FLA. is Sha's team lost to the San Antonio Gator Girls 8-7. They are currently on the field playing an Arkansas team.
Looking at the bracket, there are mostly Texas teams in the final 8. Way to go teams.
Here is the updated bracket.

That's all folks...

They lost 3-1. Without having seen a single inning, it appears they had an outsanding tournament finishing in the top 6 out of 36 teams. Congratulations girls.

Several other Texas teams are still playing, so good luck to them. Make Texas proud.

WTG Shannon and Texas Heat. Ya'll went a long way and the competetion has to really be tough when you get down to one of eight undefeated teams out of 36 in the World Series. No shame in loosing at that level. And sixth out of 36 is one heck of an accomplishment.

Congratulations!!!!!

Shae's team finished 5th out of 35 teams in her divison. This is because of low runs scoring in the amount of games played. It was Pitcher against Pitcher on the final day. The first game against the Gater Girls was lost because of errors. The ball was being thrown to 1st base to high and the 1st baseman had to come off of the bag to catch the ball. Hince, the winning run in overtime.

Game 2, lots of drama in the first inning. Shae ran to second, the big coach from the opposing team appealed a decision all the way to the top and she was called out and that set the tone for the rest of the game. When the same thing happend on one of the opposing players and Shae's coach brought it up- the ump said that it wasn't the same thing. Go Figure!

The girls had a wonderful year and had nothing to hang their heads for. This is the fartherest that they had ever gone on any team they had ever been on. Way To Go Texas Heat!!!!!!!
