2coolers, 1st time I've owned a Garmin product and I'm ready to mount the tranducer. On previous boats, I've used epoxy and glued my transducer to the hull in the bilge, common on Bass Boats. This is a Dual Freq. and I realize I'll lose some sensitivity, but is this ok with these products. Appreciate the feedback!
By the way, it's going on a Wellcraft 20' center console!

no sure, but just transom mounted a new one a couple of weeks ago using the dril - screws with sealant type thing, no problems and I'm not know to get things right the first time. Good Luck!

I did mine that way (silicone to the hull) and it seems fine. First one was the same way. I do however from time to time, get a flashing dept readout that is stuck at a certain reading, and then a few seconds later(sometimes 30 seconds or more)it will start reading real time again. Don't know if that's a symtom of an air bubble, or a short, or what. Doesn't seem to be related to boat speed or even if I'm moving or not ? Garmin 498. I may redo it just to be sure it's not an air bubble.
