Galveston Bay Complex Surf Only Conditions

Let's start a thread where we can report on the surf conditions from High Island to Freeport.

I can check the seawall M-F on the way to work around 6:30-7:00am and again around 3:00pm.

Today the water color looked good. Waves would have given some problems.

End of report. 5-15-2023.

True most of the time but not 100%. Sometimes it looks flat enough but it ain’t. Ask how I know???

Fishable. Zoom on iPhone gets a little pixelated. Smoother than pic indicates.

Although you can judge how flat it is from the cams, it is often difficult to determine the water clarity and color. Thanks for starting this HoustonKid!

Water is good. Not green to the beach but not dirty brown. I would call it sandy and trying to clear up. For sure fishable.

Surf is about to give up some trout thru Sunday. Better get on it.

I walked and fished a big rock structure like that this week. Surf side water was trout green and they are there now. Nice sized baitfish swimming in schools everywhere. Birds were in the air.

Buddy of mine said SS was muddy today.
I’m hitting east end at day break. Hopefully it holds until then.
Got the Jeep packed up and favorite top tied on.
Did I mention I love the Clown SS Jr????

Red and White clown SSJr is my fav. Yesterday, the SS Channel looked like creamed coffee but the surf looked fine. Nice trout were hauled in by the lemon rig slingers. Floating seaweed was kind of a hassle. Good luck tomorrow.

Thx. Won’t be a big window to fish. 2 hours at most then off to work. Hopefully I’ll report back some good news.
