Cant galvanize spring steel.

Can spray with cold galvanize but it won't last.

Can cover in grease or spray with corrosion x if it makes you feel better.... which will make with dirt....

 

That would explain why I can’t find. Ok thanks for the info. Guess I would need to move to a torsion axle if the springs start rust too often

 

I work on tons of trailers and do lots of axle jobs.... Havent touched a spring setup in over a decade. Throw away and changed them all to torsion.

Can I remove the leaf spring axle and replace with torsion axle? The present axle has a 4” drop

 

Is trailer galvanized or aluminum. Both can be upgraded to torsion axles. Some trailers are more work than others.

 

It’s a galvanized Sportsman trailer. Trailer is in great shape for 05’ model. Single axle for a 14.5 Chiquita boat

 

Have to get torsion axle made where you can u bolt bracket around galvanized c chanel. You dont want to drill into your trailer or you compromise the galvanize.

Takes about a month or so to get axle made with brackets spaced right. I would take it to McClain and let them measure and order custom build torsion axle.

I use this heavy duty brush on galvanizing compound. Much better than spray.
A lot less trouble and less expensive than a new axle. Put this on extra heavy several coats.

 

Just let SGREM help you with that on one of his off days.. he'll do it better than the shops that perform these.
