Hey All,
I just found the Texas Tarpon website and was overjoyed to find the conservation and tagging efforts that are currently manifesting in the Lone Star State: Let's get our Tarpon Back!
That said, I have to say I managed to hook my first Tarpon off Bob Hall Pier Monday July 30 at 11:30 at night. It was absolutely epic, the big brute ran out about 250 yards and almost spooled me before I turned it. I could feel the 6'+ jumping out there in the moonlight. I finally got in under near the lights and it threw the hook for a perfect release. I know I'll be telling my kids this story one day, therefore I am committing myself to conservation efforts for this species.
I hope to fish the upcoming tournament in Port O'Conner, I do have a seaworthy boat if the water is calm but have purchased it very recently and am but a novice driving a boat, but a hell of a little fisherman. If anyone is looking for a partner for the tourney, please let me know,
thanks,
Nathan Harwell
