Front page photo caption:

Admiral of the 59th Annual Golden Meadow-Fourchon International Taropn Rodeo, Troy Brady, points to the leader board indicating the 83 lb. 6 oz. tarpon caught by Stan Smith. The tarpon was the first ever caught in the spearfishing division in the rodeo's 59 year history.

What's the point? I bet it was quite a ride, but without a periscope, you can't see it jump!!!!

Funny you bring this up----When i read the article in The Houma Courier i was pi*** off @ first. I then backed up and realized in Louisiana (conventional fisherman) we kill tarpon for a few rodeos each year as well. I then justified it as " well our technique is a sport--their technique is killing fish in a barrel" At any rate there are only 4 rodeos each year (5 kill places in each) @ Most 20 intentional kills per [email protected] least 100 fish released per year-- Well at any rate i do not like to see tarpon speared--IMO that is not a sport--
