Total newbie at this.....I've repaired some tips in my day but never anything like this. Long story short, my wife's potbelly pig ate the foam grips off of my Penn Boat rod. It's a perfect weight for throwing big spoons and I'd like to repair it. I don't even know where to start. I'll try to attach a couple pics here. Any suggestions/tips GREATLY appreciated!

Rear grip is easy and I've done it many times. Remove gimbal butt, slice EVA lengthwise in several places with utility knife being careful to not dig into blank, peel off EVA in chunks with pliers, scrape glue residue off with same utility knife kept perpendicular to blank. Use some thin bands of masking tape to bring the blank to a consistent OD (leave some gaps between the tape bands) cover liberally with paste epoxy and slide the new grip on. The new grip should be sized to be only slightly snug when sliding onto the butt of the blank. Replace the gimbal butt.

The front grip is also easy if you remove the guides. That might be easier to fix with cork tape or paracord after removal of the old grip.

Ham for dinner? :rotfl:

Top grip is easy too but will have to be done before the bottom obviously. Get a hypalon grip and ream it to about 85% of the blank OD at the smallest point where the grip will touch.

Use duct tape to completely wrap the reel seat with it all the way closed. You’ll need to build a ramp onto the butt and onto the reel seat.

Boil that grip heavily in water, lube up the blank with epoxy, slide it on with some vigor, sliding it past where it’ll sit and back to the reel seat. Massage it out while pouring still boiling hot water on it to keep it loose. Let cool and use acetone to clean up excess epoxy.

Might want some cotton gloves under the rubber gloves to work the grip.
