I have had mine for a year now & really like it, really keeps fish fresh & keeps them from swimming around & through your legs tangeling you in a stringer.

 

Get a fish basket, tywrap a pool noodle on it. I do this to a 35 gal plastic trash can, with holes drilled it, for a large bait keeper.

It is the same basket with the lid. The lid comes with a float. I bought the from Academy on clearance for $10. Option 2 to make a custom bait pen. Glen from Friendswood nice small and large bait pen.

I used to take those, remove the styrofoam ring & replace it with a pool noodle, still like the foreverlast bag better, tighter mesh, carry all gear to & from the boat.

 

The ones at Academy work fine until you have a limit of trout and try to carry it. That styrofoam will break very fast. The ones at Marburger are double styrofoam.

 

You are not supposed to carry them by the styrofoam. LOL

 

It's been talked about many times on here but still a great idea.

Five gallon bucket, bait bucket type lid, drill holes, zip tie a kid's noodle float toy, and buy the cheapest 25' stringer you can find. It might cost you a whole $5. I've had some that have lasted ten years.

 

Can you post pictures? I thought of this for tournament fishing when wading. Stringing and the do-nets cause too much stress

Do-Net. Get a 4X dark t shirt. Cut the arms & neck off zip tie it like a curtain over the net. The man in the grey suit keeps cruising on to the fellas with the stringers.

I'm having some issues with the search feature on the forum, so i'll post this question here. Does anyone manufacture a floating fish basket for wade fishing?

No, I do not fish in west Matagorda, but the sharks have become a problem for us at a couple of summer wading spots.

I'm also all ears if someone has an easy way for a do it yourself floating basket.

If you can't string fish on a regular stringer without having dolphins and sharks eating them off it's time to take some fish back to the boat.

 

It's not if, they will be there, just keep the skiff between the 2 of you & go back to the boat every couple 2 or 3 fish.
