Anybody hear anything about whats happening on the West Coast? Particularly Port Charlote and the Peace River area in Punta Gorda? I have an older Sister that lives in Punta gorda and she is so flustered and confused she is not sure what is going on at all.

She did evacuate to Bradenton but at the same time her husband was having a catherization procedure. So any news anybody can give me about the area I would appreciate it.

I don't know the real answer to your question. Hope everything is good.

But I have been looking at different real time data and previous data at the airports in Florida.

Here is the url to the Punta Gorda, Charlotte County Airport http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/current/KPGD.html

The bad part is the last wind reading was 35mph and that was taken at 3PM EDT and the last reading of any data was at 6PM. But maybe that's just because everyone evacuated.

Just so you know you can change the 3 letters at the end of the url with the call letters of any other airport to get them. Here are some others I have been watching.

Thanks .........AS you say their isn't much info unless it all happened after 6:00 pm., as during the day the highest wind was 35mph. The National news reports say that most of the landfall was occuring at that time (6 to 7).

Our weather here in New Jersey has been nowhere near what they have predicted. They have been predicting Doom and Gloom all week, but 'cept for some substantial rain for a 3 hour period this afternoon that was it. They had been predicting flood warnings and possible tornados and when i checked the beach this afternoon I could have fished with the heavy sticks.

Oh well another TV extravaganza. I guess that is why they get the big "Bucks"

Thanks again

Hey Drumbo, They sure were wrong about Alex. Twerent no fun riding out that sucker at the Avon Motel. Lots of damage at the RV park. Lots of campers off the blocks and trees down every where. Two days clean up and now may get it again. A Cat 2 is no picnic. I am safe in the hills of WV. I'll sit here and worry about all my friends that are still there.

Thanx for that update...........Sure glad that you two are OK!! We will miss not being with you guys this year.

From this morning's News reports it looks as Punta Gorda took a major hit. My sister lives in a 30+ year old Mobile home park and I am not very optimistic as they are just yards from the Peace River which floods at the first drops of rain...........We are Praying
