Took the Predator out for a run yesterday and had Rik Jacobson along to tweak the electronics. I might as well just cut and pasted everything that everyone says after they have him on their boat. He definately knows what he's doing and showed us some things we probably never would have figured out on the sounder! I highly recommend having him show you the secrets to working your sounder better! We had a great time and caught some snaps to 22 lbs. Kept 1 ling about 44 inches, and 1 small gag grouper. Will post pics later.

Was a great day on the water and calmed down in the afternoon to where we could run 53 on the way back in.

One amazing thing about the boat is we ran 132 miles according to the trip and when we went to fill up afterwards all we could get in is 49 gallons!!! Anymore and it kept spewing out!

Thanks again Rik and look forward to fishing with you again!

Isn't your boat a 30ft+ with twin 275s???

Hum, that is 2.69 miles per gallon. You might need to calibrate your odometer. You know what they say, if it is too good to be true........

that is too good to be true,
or his boat was tilted where fuel rushes to the back preventing him from
adding anymore in

but if it was true, wow

I don't mean to me Mr. Negative, but there is NO way. Fountain's website says 46mph at 26 gph, which is 1.77mpg (this is with 275s). WOT 64mph at 57gph, which is 1.12mpg.

2.69 and I would be a Fountain/Mercury owner.

Yes, 31' with twin 225 Verados. I'm pretty confident the distance is correct, I know we ended up right at 45 miles out, so there's 90 right there. Plus we hit quite a few stops.

I don't think it's right either, just couldn't get anymore gas in it without it spewing out - and yes, I was pumping slow - not full blast! I guess we'll find out the next trip!

Ling?

Are there still some ling hanging around to be caught with the cool water temps?

There are some good ling still hanging around. The one we caught was tangled in 3 of our lines. While getting the tangle undone there were 2 others around the boat, but we couldn't get to them.

Did you fill the boat up on your trailer? We had some issues filling out 31 Fountain up on the trailer until we flipped the hitch over in the receiver and got the tounge up a little higher. They don't seem to fill up very well when the nose is pointed down.

we had the same issue so we got a hitch with an 8"drop instead of a 6" and flipped it over and works well now

I guess I can try that. It's not really pointed down though. I'll give it a shot and see what happens.
Ours didnt really look like it was pointed down all that much either, but if you think about how it looks in the water standing still, the bow is pretty high or the stern is pretty low compared to how it is on a trailer.
