I currently have a bay boat but am considering getting a jet ski to fish in Galveston Bay/ clear lake. J might go in some shallow water, and am amazed at seeing jet skis offshor.
- which brand and model do you recommend ? Reliability is most important to me. I saw some sea doo jet skis today. It looks like you could add the extra back deck to any of the other models. Aside from the garmin, and the rotating seat on the trophy model, is it really worth it? Any Yamaha or other brands that are good to set up to fish ? I would rather have a better ride and stay drier.

We have two 2008 Yamaha VX Deluxe - not for fishing but just just for fun. Most of the rental places use Yamahas. Not saying other brands aren't good but just throwing that out there. One negative on them is it is illegal to run them between sunset and sunrise so if you're wanting to get to a spot early or stay late, you can't (legally) do it.

I have a 2010 & 2013 Kawasaki Ultra LX 260 & 300. Both have been extremely reliable (knock on wood) and comfortable. I take one out when I don’t feel like taking the boat. I can get into some great place to wade that most can’t during the flounder run. I see most choose the Yamaha with side storage but I don’t find that I need more than what I have.

I've had a Yamaha but it was a 2-stroke. Lots of issues with it but I'm still a Yamaha fan. That being said, I've had three SeaDoo models and never had one issues. I like the fact that they are the only brand with a closed loop system. I also find them much more stable for fishing as I use mine for that as much as pulling the grandkids on a tube.
