caught my first ever slam Sunday. Fished out of POC, on the south shoreline, close to the Pass, and Mule Slough.

The two largest trout, were 22 and 23, caught on a corky devil. They had completely inhaled the lure, completely down in their gullet. I also caught the flounder on the same lure.

The reds, also 22 and 23, one was caught on a baby skitter walk, in about 10" of water. I saw the red swimming, and when I casted to him, it just about hit him in the nose, and he inhaled it. The other red was caught on the margarita lure shown, rigged weedless, and pulled thru the grass.

I didn't catch the smaller trout, that one was bayrat's.

The white line on the rod, at the Margarita lure, is the 20" mark on my Stix.

bert, congratulations on the slam! thats 2cool. thats one fine catch ya got there, thanks for the report.
Way to go Bert!

I hope you marked the spot with that fancy GPS of yours!!
actually Bill, I really appreciate the GPS. I have been able to use it as much as I'd like for fishing, but it's coming around. I'm finally starting to get the hang of it. Thanks again.
Nice catch you got there bert. That is one dark flounder, what was the bottom structure you pulled it out of, rock, grass, mud?

Josh
Josh,

that shoreline, is hard sand/grass, and similar to the beach, several guts and bars, humps and valleys.

I'm not sure how I managed to hook the flounder, since I'm pretty sure, I was fishing over deep grass beds, and I was keeping the devil, in the middle to upeer water column....guess he was loss, and it was my gain!

not the way it was intended at all.....I just wasn't wanting to try and take credit for your fish, that was all.....

besides, you and I both know, that the past three months, I've been reeking of skunk smell......
okay!

Great job both of you!
I'd like to fish with you some time.
skunky poo, huh?

LOL......was pretty sure it wasn't meant as such. Skunk smell. Now that's a good one. We've both been odorizing it up pretty bad this whole year. So, if you've been skunk smellin' it, I be also.....................BTW, we probably shouldn't be speaking along these lines; does lend us much credibility.
dude, when have we ever had any credibility......or ability......or agility?....we're fat, and can't fish, and lie like a rug about it......lol
WTG, Bert! I remember my first slam and yer right...it is a good feeling alright. welcome to the "club"! I have caught a few slams in my day but If it is EVER necessary to "renew" ones membership then I am overdue for sure! It has been a long time since I had one...unless, of course, you care to count the Texas EXOTIC slam. Brown eel, Piggy, and of course, the ever-present hardhead! I'm more apt to catch that slam than one like yours over the last few years.

Congratulations!!! Fun to catch, makes a great photo op, and great on the table. Now, how ya gonna beat that, I ask ya?!? :)
Duuuude

Your killin' us man. You know we've both had(key word) ability and agility before. Nobody else know's about the credibility thing. Ya coulda left that on the down low.

P.S. Dude, you're like really slammin' yourself hard. You know I got at least 6 years on you. Give yourself a break. BTW......did I mention, keep the credibility thing hush hush.
duuude..LOL......what kinda grass is that? it looks mighty healthy. I wouldnt mind that in my yard atall. LOL......oh and BTW, nice fish you got there.LOL................JJ
Hey Bert,
Good work there buddy!
Come see me next time, maybe I can give you tips on places... just remeber your sign off... if you're buying it don't matter... LOL!
hey EJ,

Down in your neck of the woods, hasn't been very kind to us the last times we've been there. I did read a post by you, about Shoalwater, and Contee starting to turn on for reds tho.

I need to make a run by your place, and visit......and if I'm buyin......get ready for Lonestar RED!!

You're still welcome, but let's just bring our own - LOL!
