Lost 3 sections of my fence in the storm. What's the going rate to expect? We have 3 50+lb dogs and the temp chicken wire ain't gonna cut it! :)

Also, anyone know of a reputable Wrought Iron fencing company. Had a big maple fall on a section of ours. Bent top rail on another section, hoping to be able to bend it back.

Its only about 8ft, 1" square tubing, 2 rails.

Wishing all the other 2cool folks with much worse situations a speedy return to a normal life!

Cheaper to do it yourself if you have the time. I had a tree fall on mine knocking down 3 sections and I had to do a quick fix before letting my dogs outside. I just raised each section and braced them on each side at the post. And then secured support braces across each section where they meet. It's a lil flimsy but it keeps my dogs in and others out until I get the time to fix it right.

here's some storm pricing for Hurricane Dolly: definitely subject to change and different carriers issue different price lists, this is what I am seeing from several carriers and two big insurance "pools"

Inland from intercoastal, 6' Wooden privacy fence, remove, replace and haul off $24.65 per Linear Foot, $175 for standard sized gate

Seaward of intercoastal $27.25 LF and $190 per standard gate

Inland, 5' chain link R&R $18.75 LF and $21.00 seaward... gates $135 and $150

don't be suprised if they pay you 50% based on neighbor's co-ownership and don't be suprised to see a "minimum" charge if all you need to do is reattach panels or have light damage

again, this is not gospel and different companies do issue different price lists and the market will drive the price so I would expect to see higher prices in Houston than in the valley

I just redid the one in my back yard myself for about 3 dollars/foot. I used Cedar Planks to and a 2x6 on the bottom.

4x4 Post Repair?

It's a lil flimsy but it keeps my dogs in and others out until I get the time to fix it right.
What's the best way to re-stabilize the posts? My fence is less than a year old and the winds blew it back & forth loosening it. It's intact, just loose in the ground. Best I can tell is that they'll need to be dug up & replaced even tho they are new and 18"+ in the ground in cement. I'd rather not have to go thru that again :(

Katrina kinda whop-sided my fence so me and a buddy used cheap come-a-longs ($4 ea) and trued the fence. We then dug out on the side to which the fence was blown and re-cemented about 6-8" deep. My fence was not really "loose"...it was just racked about 6" to one side. It cost about $200 for the repairs and my insurance paid me $12 and change a foot (460 ft). Hope this helps.....hope you can understand my lingo. Good luck to ya.
