Howdy,
Expedition Great White is on tonight;

http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/series/expedition-week/4906/Overview11#tab-Videos/07442_00

This is one of our subscribers, Chris Fischer, who has gone out to Guadalupe and is forging new ground with this tag and release program for Great White Sharks. Because the shark's skeleton is cartilidge, it is immobilized when they raise it out of the water using the cradle they use to launch their sportfishing boat. Once out of the water, they jump on it, put a saltwater hose in its mouth, inject needles to draw blood, drill holes in the dorsal and attach satellite tracking tags, etc..

The sharks totally manhandled their equipment at first, straightening/breaking the huge hooks. They had Mustad forge some xtra strong, xtra large circle hooks which, when used with the improvised buoy system worked great.

2Cool and worth checking out.
