I was also wondering this.. I have Stream Energy and Im having a few problems with them right now... they dont have friendly customer service from my experience.

I have wondered about Bounce Energy.. they look good on paper but I dont know of anyone using them, and im hesitant to make the switch.

Why did yall choose Gexa? Any special reason beside the giftcard or just the lowest price you found?

The gfs best friends (sisters) helped us decide. One has bounce at her apt and one has Gexa at her house. We were originally going to go with Bounce but their rate jumped over 10 so we stuck with Gexa. Bounce was offering some good discounts after you had a couple months with them (i.e. bill credits) but we opted for Gexa.

 

We've been with Startex Power for 3 years or more, just renewed my contract @ 10.9 cents per KWH (fixed) for 2 years. Have had no problems with them at all.

Gexa for me. Honest pricing, no hidden/surprise fees or charges.

I couldn't tell you about their customer service because I've never had an issue with them or their billing practices. Straight up honest service.

They are owned by Florida Light and Power, which means that they aren't some fly by night, no service company.

 

We just switched from Reliant to Startex Power in may. Locked in at 10 cents/kwh for 1 year. They advertise 10 cents, but its actually 9.7 plus the centerpoint fees equals 10.

 

We just got around 10 cent/kwh for a year with Gexa.

Thanks everybody...I've been researching Gexa and was looking their way, I just did'nt know about any sort of "added this" or "surcharge that" which will usually jack up the average kwh price. Also , I wan't someone who will be here tomorrow. I've heard stories of some providers will disappear overnight and you get shuffled off to the POLR without your knowledge. Has anyone had to call any of the above companys for a power outage. If so, what was the time response? Do you call just one number and report the problem?

 

for the greater houston area you would not call your biller, centerpoint owns the lines/poles etc. you call them with outages

Centerpoint provides service for the lines. Do not call your electrical provider for outages.

I've been with Spark for four years. No extra fees, good customer service and great pricing.

I am looking as well. I use TXU and if I understand my bill correctly is looks like I pay:

.11 per KWH then Gas Adj that = .0457 for a total of .1557

The gas adjustment is a fraction of a cent. It is actually 4.57/1000 of a penny. If you use 2000kwh, it amounts to about 8 bucks.
