Started out at Daylight in X-mas. Once the sun came up I realized I was fishing in some pretty dirty water. I caught fish last time with this water, but I did not see any bait so I got out and drove to the Water Treatment Plant area of West Bay.
On the way out things were looking promising with tons of bait and the faint smell of watermelon in the air. I headed off to the east once I got in the water and began looking for signs of fish. Finally saw some bait being worked over even further out and to the east from where I was. Once I got close to the area I realized I was pretty much surrounded by trout. I finally got some action on a spook jr with some rather amazing explosions on the water, I had one of those hooked for a few seconds before it pulled off. Ended the day with 8 trout to 24" only one was too small and the rest were in the 20-22" range. There are some quality fish out there if you want to work for them. I did throw some rubber in the form of tails, rubberback, and corky devil but could not get a bump. Also, I noticed about 8 other people that walked in where I did and none of them caught anything as far as I could tell. I just wondered if they walk into the bay with a spot in mind that they are going to fish and that is it. Because they could have seen the baitfish activity from where they were. I try and let the fish tell me where they are once I get into the water.
