Michael, the EBs call for trolling unless you want to be cranking up from 600+ feet. It is the edge of the continental shelf and is an area where there is a very steep drop off to mucho deep water.

I am not sure about rigs in the area. I don't fish down there anymore so I don't keep up with the comings and goings of the rigs. If you are signed up on Tom Hilton's site, you can get up to date data on the rigs.

That part of the Gulf has produced many billfish and my first YFT came from there. Good luck with it.

Eb

East breaks has no rigs close by but if you leave from freeport you will pass some good king rigs one of my best kings came from that area. I think they are around 20 mi from the breaks but I could be wrong it has been a while sence I fished them

I will be launching from Matagorda and my plan right now is to run my A20-A and a few other spots in that area I like and then to head over to EB if the water is nice which it looks like it will be.

Does anyone have and idea how for the EB are from Matagorda?

Matty on Saturday

We are heading out Saturday - heading for the same area - A23 for bait & then to the Gulf King wreck. If it is really nice we may head to the East breaks or the Brazos reef - we will make that call later. I do have some new baits I want to troll so it would be a good opportunity to do that. Give me a call on 68 - the boat is called "El Gato".

The East Breaks are roughly 55nm from Matagorda, the closest port on the TX coast to access the breaks. You should be prepared to troll once you get there, I'm sure you will see 20 boats banging the breaks by the time you arrive. There is a platform located about 7nm northwest of the breaks in 375' of H2O that you can drop down on for AJ's. Good Luck.

Never made it out to EB. We went out to A20-A but to my surprise it is no longer there. Now there is only a bouy. We made several drifts and picked up picked up fish (snapper and AJ) on every drift. After about 6 drifts I lost signal on my depth finder. We should have probably keep drifting but we desided to run over to A19. We fished there for several hours and then desided to make a slow troll back in. with no depth finder I desided to not run over to EB cause I wouldn't be able to find any bottom structure. Hopefully next time we will be able to run over to EB.
