I'm confused. For those that don't know, migratory waterfowl (except a few native black mallards, wood ducks, and someones pets) have pretty much left the lower central flyway because of the freaken heat. But hek yeah I can't wait till November.
Not neccesarily (SP?) We have a ton of shovelers and blue wings on our property right now. Gorgeous this time of year. Dang shame they are in their drab tuxes during legal shooting.
I saw the usual sawbills working Highland Bayou in the Bayou Vista area the other day. But they don't count as ducks do they??? LOL (They're a step above a cormorant in my opinion, but they can keep you from getting skunked on a bad day in the marsh).
This June monsoon will help the marshes store water. You can always see tree ducks and mottled ducks at Anahuac NWR Shoveler Pond. The mottled ducks are more secretive, but they fly around the marsh occasionally. Can't go fishing, so I guess I'll clean the shotguns and mess around with the decoys...
"My ducks need water. The rest of you people are gonna have to fend for yourselves!"
