head south down the island away from port a and you'll find fish pass. a lot of people head out of there to wade on foot or by kayak. good luck.

 

Wilson's Cut is not a bad place to wade fish...

It's located right before you get the Mayan Princess condo's on the right hand side.

 

Across from SandPiper Condo is a sand boat ramp, that leads out into Shamrock Cove....some people park and walk out and wade out of that area. Also go back across the ferry and there are several places you can park along the causeway and wade fish...brown and root flats is a popular spot

 

yeah wading fool is right about brown and root. it can be pretty hot.

 

I would definitely go to Shamrock . Its only about 5 minutes outside of Port A. Look for Port Royal condos on the Gulf side then wilson's cut is almost just opposite the highway. Take the road from wilson's cut (boat ramp) to the right, it winds around a good bit. There are some great flats back there, but I would try to use your kayak because it gets pretty boggy and would only add to the experience.

Thanks for the info! The yak is out due to time resrictions, and also it's my little girls(2 year old) first trip to the island. I want to spend some time with her and mom on the beach. I'll be lucky to get in a couple hour wade Sat. morning before they get up and going. May try the B&R flats, heard some good things.
