Do not shave a Long haired dog!!!!!!

It caused them to regrow thicker!!!! which is hotter!!!!!

A shave.....

You can shave a long haired dog. I have my lab, sheltie.& Irish setter shaved every summer. Just don't leave them outside to get sunburned. I don't suggest you do it if he is a outside dog because then his hair has a job to do!

Seriously, as pointed out above, don't forget that the coat gives protection from the sun and provides some insulation. No an issue for inside dogs but no one wants a sunburned pup.

lol. no but I do shave all but abut 5" of the end of his tail. It looks like a lion's tail. We call him Mufassa. :spineyes:

FishinChick...how "close" do you cut your Golden? Mine is 10 months and have been trimming his hair back to about a 1/2".
