So getting into hog hunting this year and doing some research on motion censored lighting. There are retail products available online but they all seem very high priced for the quality. Got me thinking about building my own set up. Figure an ammo can, 12v feeder battery, cheap motion sensor, and a pair of red trailer lights would work and save me $50-$100. Has anyone ever built anything like this or do y'all stick with the retail solutions.

Mine gets sun 3-4 hours and shade the rest of the day but gets charged enough. My light only comes on for 10 seconds when it senses motion so a charge lasts OK. For the price you should try one. Check Amazon for Lovin Product Home Security 62 LED solar powered light. $19. Like the one I have.

Get two of the yard solar paneled spot lights and use a red permanent marker...they last nearly all night long...don't really need a lot of direct sun light. Tie-wrap them to the legs or cage. I have two on my feeder and to be honest you really could get by with one.

Just be sure to get the adjustable spot light...works get for $9.00 each. I had one go bad so I'm glad I set it up originally with two.. I've used these same light on my offshore boat for light at night on the deck while tuna fishing...those two worked for several years even in saltwater!

LED motion security lights that have the solar charger. My buddy has some from harbor freight that work fine in his back yard, and would do well for a feeder. Knowing him, he didn't pay more than $15-$20 each.

I prefer to not have white light, but nothing a little colored plastic wrap and some zip ties or tape wouldn't fix.
