I was at the new Academy store in S.A. yesterday at 410 and military. I was just looking around and I found deer corn for $5.99 for a 40# bag. Do you think this is a good time to buy at this price? Should I wait to see if prices fall further?

That comes out to $7.50 for 50 lbs, not the best price but close enough. I don't know which direction you are going to head, but mumme's in hondo and oasis in uvalde have theirs around $7.35 per 50 lbs, although I've weighed a couple from oasis and they have all been 48.5 lbs.

I talked to a Pleasenton HEB associate yesterday about deer corn prices. He said wait till October and he should have some $1 off discount coupons from Budwieser for the deer corn he's selling. Right now it's $7.99 a 50# bag.

Brete, I don't mind the 1.5 lb difference, it's still the cheapest around.

The only reason I had decided to weigh the ones I've had left over the past month or so, is because I had a friend go through there and buy some to fill their feeders. He said they ran out of corn filling feeders that they used to have excess to spread out. He said it used to take @ 7 bags to make them heeping full and each took 8 sacks so he thought they might be 40 lbs. Now whether he had put back a few too many while filling them, I don't know. But I sure do like those corn nuggets they have in the restaurant!

He is right, 7 bags should fill a feeder brim full....I know I've hauled tons of those bags over the years. Not sure what the deal is with the weight but I've hunted their family ranch for close to 20 years now and I'll be down next week and mention it to him. I'm sure he'd want to know.....Thanks

I have been buying from them for about the last 3 years. Real clean for coming right out of the silo and they are always the cheap's around. Their right off of I-10 just west of town.
