hook all the neg leads to the batt as before,

run all the pos leads to one side of the perko, run a heavy jumper from the other side of the perko to the pos batt terminal.

the only exception would be an auto bilge pump float , that would be wired direct, always hot.

Short somewhere

Apparently I have a short somewhere. My outboards bypass the battery switch as do the bilge pumps. I was hoping to find a shop where they might locate the short as well. What shop do you recommend in Freeport or should I take it back down to Finish Line in Hitchcock? It seem like a long drive.

dunno where to suggest,

short or just slow drain ? try touching the pos batt leads to the battery 1 at a time and look for a spark. be aware of safety issues, fuel fumes etc, when doing this.

your outboards will drain batteries over time , esp if they have some age on them.

but why don't you put perkos on the outboards too ?

i have everything switched except 1 auto bilge , that way you can kill power to the whole boat.
