Hey Folks,
I'm a regular on the Catfish Lounge Board and have a question about the Daiichi Widegap "Chunk"CircleHooks.I'm considering switching to these in the red 10/0 size.I fish for large bluecats and have had a coupla instances lately where the Gamagatsu 8/0 octopus circles I have been using were bent open.I have heard them recommended on another board by some "well versed"catmen and guides....any of ya'll have any comments or experiences with these hooks?Comments welcome.

I dont know if they are any stronger. They are about the same size. Look at the Owner circle hooks, they look like a heavier gauge hook and may be stronger.

Definately goin' up in size from 8/0 to 10/0,hopin' that will help some in itself.Does the red coloration seem to make a differencewith most species of fish or no?

The red will wear off after one or two soakings; well, at least it does in the surf with the wave/sand action. I have used the Daiichi bleeding bait circles up to that size and have landed bull reds up to 45" on them. None have ever opened up on me. They are pretty stout. But, if you can get the same style in a different color (if it is cheaper) then just get them. Also used them for snapper and such and they have worked well.
