I'm a newbie to this site. I know I'll catch some slack from all the hardware slingers with this post but oh well. I just bought my first boat. Now that I have options I would like to try a few different approaches to catching trout in the Galveston Bay system including croaker fishing. I've only fished croaker once with a guide out of Rockport and we did pretty well. My question is...Are there better spots than others in Galveston Bay to fish croaker? I am most familiar with West Bay but I am excited about searching out some new haunts now. I look forward to any advice you all have. I need to put some fish in the freezer for a fish fry at my family reunion. Gracias.

I don't live bait fish much but it seems the croaker "thing" happens generally in deeper water (6-12 feet) and in the surf when it lays down. Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. I'm not asking for anyone to reveal their secret spots, I am just curious what type of structure to look for. Your advice appreciated.
