I use croaker on occasion and sometimes it doesn't seem like fair fishing; but it's legal.
Setting off a feeder full of corn to get the deer used to eating and then shooting them when they come to breakfast/dinner isn't hunting, but it's legal.
Legal isn't always right.
Just saying....................

Shooting deer under a feeder is the best way to "kill" them. it may not be hunting (just shooting really) but you still use judgement and take the animal with less risk of wounding. Filling a cooler with 5 fisherman's limits of 17" trout and shooting a deer under a feeder are two totally different scenarios.

BIG difference, a croaker croaks that's what makes the trout go crazy and strike. Corn doesn't make a sound or call the deer to the feeder. The deer just show up on their own free will.

yeah, but our feeder makes a lot of noise at feeding time and they come running !
I changed my whole outlook on deer "hunting" when I lived on Lake Travis.
Shake a 5gal bucket of corn and they came outa the woodwork.
When I did hunt , I was in the blind way before the feeder went off.
Again when they heard it; ours were pretty loud, they showed up for a meal.
Pesky deer were always gettin in my **** feeders.

I live in lakeway, maybe that's why my respect for deer has dwindled, they're like rats around here. We used to call our feeders dinner bells until this year, we haven't been seeing any action at our feeders.

Yes. Why does the state allow you to hunt? To allow the management of the overall herd for maximum deer growth given the ecosystem they are in? Yes. Why does the state allow people to catch fish? See above. The methods debate is irrelevant, unless the STATE deems it not a worthy practice. Corn feeding deer is baiting, pure and simple, unless the primary diet of the deer is corn. BTW, I agree with and do both-croakers and corn.

Is baiting deer with corn legal only in Texas? Just curious.

I know its not in some states b/c i was speaking with a guy who use to live and hunt in New York and Penns. and they would make fun of how we deer hunt here in Texas.

Why am I a troll then? I said shooting deer under a feeder was good, you misunderstood me if you thought otherwise. Also the state limits on trout are not to keep the trout population from exploding. By the way, what exactly is a troll? I'm sure it's not intended to be friendly, but what is it?
