Country Music

I grew up on rock and roll and alternative but was exposed to a lot of old country. One of my passions takes me to places where country music is often played on the jukebox. I use Shazam to identify the artist and the song. There are a few country artists that I like…Old Dominion, Hardy, Mitchell Tenpenny, Morgan Wallen, Gary Allen, and my favorite Cody Jinks (Hippies and Cowboys)…I love that song and his singing style.

Who else has a style and cadence similar to artists above?

I love country music, especially from the 80’s and early/mid 90’s that I grew up listening to. I was raised by my grandparents and we listened to the country countdown every Sunday morning over breakfast.

My grandparents owned a feed store (which I worked in from 12-20) worked cows and got me into rodeo (actually went to Sam on a rodeo scholarship). Those older country songs resonate with me on that lifestyle and take me back to those younger days. I do enjoy some of the newer country singers like Cody Johnson, but I don’t like the weird mixed stuff from people like Cody Jinks. He’s not country at all and his music sure isn’t. My gf dragged me to his concert at the rodeo this year, horrible. It’s sad that you don’t have folks like Chris LeDoux, Reba McIntyre and George Straight anymore that were all actual cowboys and cowgirls. (Chris and Reba both rodeo’d and George was/is a big team roper and puts on one of the largest team ropings in the country). Or that we don’t have more Hank, Johnny Lee, Jones, Merle, Conley, Whitley etc.

Ahhh ok. Didn’t realize Cody was seen in that way. Jones, Strait, McIntyre, Nelson, Walker, etc. that was the genre I grew up with. I remember going to the rodeo in Belton back in the late 60’s, parking in a field, and sitting in rickety stands. I also went to a buckout with friends in Buckholts and it was the same. Played all day outside till the sun went down. Fished, hunted, trapped, chewed tobacco, roamed the locals woods with BB guns and fishing rods. Then move to Houston as an adult and go to the Houston Rodeo in the stadium. City rodeo and urban cowboys…lol…not the same at all. Different times for sure.

I probably resonate with Hippies and Cowboys as I was the hippie raising **ll with the cowboys.

Sounding like those old timers that are always complaining that fishing will never be what it was 😂😂

@habanerojooz look up Red dirt country on Spotify (or whatever you use to stream), there's a lot of really good stuff that isn't mainstream.

Another one of my favorites when I'm in my Country mode

There's an online streaming station www.outlawnation.com. They describe themselves as your home for genuine Outlaw Country, Southern Rock, Bluegrass, Roadhouse Blues, and Texas Red-Dirt. I'm not associated with them in anyway, just enjoy listening.

A lot of those are good, that Ryan Bingham is a libtard though.
I knew I was merely scratching the surface. Those were artists that I’ve Shazamed in the recent past. Some days I like this stuff a lot. Other days its hard rock, alt, or house music. Somedays I listen to classical stuff like Chopin- Nocturne No. 9 or Dianna Krall. Depends on the mood. But back to country, thanks to all for the input. Keep them coming. I’ll be sure to cue a few up this weekend on the juke box.

That’s discouraging. I liked Zach Bryan but he’s off the list now. I can listen to the older country singers that weren’t libtards, no need to support these douches

Same here, but I deleted all of his songs off my Spotify.
I just don't buy into the whole cancel culture movement or care enough to delete some music over something because I don't like the way you think or act. I guess Elvis went through it back in his time too.

I get where you’re coming from, but by listening or downloading their music you support them financially. I just can’t do that. It’s the same as mailing a check directly to (name any far left activist)
Doesn't bother me one bit and I sleep well at night. The left, the right, they are both feeding you bs until they make you crazy enough to believe anything they say. We have seen some that are experiencing the craziness on this very board. I don't care about ones politics, color, gender or whatever box's people are making these days. In all honesty for me the real American Dream is the right to free speech, even if I don't agree with what your saying. It really cracks me up because I have friends that swear up and down they hate the NFL publicly but they don't miss a game in private.

Bingo. Being the "nice guy" and "not being so political" stopped working a long time ago IMO.

Every time you play their song from pandora/spotify/whatever, they get money.
