Went out Saturday from Port-A. Stopped at small weed patch, no Mahi but loaded up on livies, all sizes. Went to Big Southern, the rig was full, fished the rock field all day with livies and sardines at all depths, couldn't buy a bite. Some days are like that I guess. Saw plenty of flying fish in the area and a big water spout on the way in. Just as soon not see anymore water spouts.

Port A

Valkryie, I was there as well on Saturday, Dont feel bad, we had the same results. Drove all around the gulf from Big southern to South Baker and could but a bite on anything we tried. We did manage several dolphing on a weedline about 7 miles weat of Big Southern first think Saturday. Other than that, a rough day on the pond.

Went out of Freeport yesterday and results were spectacular. Tall Rock gave us a two-man limit of kings with two of them up to 20#, several nice Beeliners and a couple of keeper snapper. From there we went further east and hit a weedpad for about a dozen or so Mahi. From there we went to a rig and loaded up on snapper and triggers. About an hour after hitting the rig a weedline rolled in and we took Mahi until the cooler was full, some up to about 5 pounds or so. Others at the rig took several nice ling, shark, barracuda and kings. We had several bit hits but the rig took the line.

It was a great day everywhere we went but it sure was hot out there.

I couldn't by a bottom bite on the rocks, recks, etc.. on saturday. didn't get a single hit drift fishing either. No mahi to be found for lack of weeds. got lucky with some blackfins east of hospital while trolling. hopefully the bite will get better at southern in the coming weeks. I'm waiting for the fall wahoo run.

Hey Pollo, I was down there this Sat and had the same results as Valk. Approx. how far East of Hospital were you? We got into some decent dolphin early on just West of Big Southern but spent the rest of the day with nothing to show and ran the gulf from Big Southern to South Baker/rigs. We threw everything we had and couldn't buy a bite the rest of the day.

Live bait....that makes sense. Didn't know if that referenced a particular bait. I fish out of Ft Lauderdale every year with my dad and bro for our father/ son trip and we use pilchard, runners, baby jacks and goggle eye caught on sabinki rigs.

I don't fish of shore here, (not a big enough boat) I just fish the bays. Are there goggle eye off our coast here? Just curious. It's a great bait over in Florida.

I enjoy the bluewater posts and pics.
