But WAIT, the camera flash radically altered the scenario!
This was the next photo, apparently the cat came back to figure out what was going on.

credit for the photos go to dave stevens in oregon. these were captured from his sony p32 "home brew" game cam.

Don't know if we can figure that one out, the time stamp is over an hour different the best I can tell. Anyway, that first pic is outstanding.

The odds of 2 cats being in front of the same trail cam are astronomical. Those cats are very solitary animals. If in fact it is 2 different cats, I'd deer hunt somewhere else.

Nothing screws up a deer hunt worse than a cat.

awesome pic for sure, but my take on it.....only worth 1 1/2 cents.....maybe

I don't think the cat is looking for a meal. He's way too close in my opinion. I think he's just sniffing around the deer. Too if you look at the cats head, his ears aren't laid back, and as close as he is, I'd think he'd be preparing to launch onto the deer's back, or taking a swipe at the hind quaters. Plus, I think the deer may even be aware of the cat, but with their sixth sense knows this cat ain't hunting. The deer looks like he's walking away all stiff legged, and his head looks extened. I have seen documentaries with lions sniffing noses with what would be some of their larger end normal prey, have also seen something similar with wolves. I could be totally wrong, have been before and will be again.

still though, what a great picture.
