Has anyone had any luck contacting them or getting warranty work done since this BS corona? I cannot get anyone to answer. The old way of warranty isn't an option. I have called, emailed, tried to file online. Nothing is working. Someone had told me they sold the company but that may be just rumor. Need to send these in again less than a year after fixing them.

That's weird because I spoke to a customer service rep last week after a fishing trip about the nose pad coming off and got instructions on how to send them in for warranty repair.

Keep trying is all I can say, maybe first thing in the morning.

Scratched Lenses

I have a pair of Corbinas with prescription lenses. They are plastic and got scratched. I went through eye center where I bought them and got new pair. When I received new pair I gave them old ones back. Took two weeks. This took place last month

Luxotica purchased Costa Del Mar a ways back and cut their workforce by about ~200 FTE. Anytime that happens, the company will never be what it used to. As a life-long faithful Costa customer it is sad to see. People, including myself, bought Costa's because they offered a top-of-the-line product, the company backed their products and stood by their warranty. Luxotica could give two darns about one of their many portfolio companies and frankly has far more concern about preserving warranty related costs than generating future revenue. It's rather embarrassing to see such a misguided directive from management at Luxotica as this will undoubtedly decrease their top-end sales from faithful returning customers over time and the impact to the bottom line will be substantially greater than their efforts to reduce costs along with any synergy inherited with acquiring Costa. I guess it fits the classic, "Buy the brand name reputation, reduce costs wherever possible, improve the BS and IS and try to sell to make more $$$". It's just a shame it had to be brand that most of us are close to.

Additional note: Following the merger, the timeline for layoffs was scheduled to end September 2020. I'd have to imagine that management is taking the current opportunity to extend the layoffs beyond the original scope and my guess would be this starts in departments such as customer service...

I agree. I have had these peel, and the ear piece break twice now. I paid around $280 for the 580G's Love the lenses but the frames are garbage. I hate to toss them and buy another brand when the lenses are in good shape.

I just sent me Corbinas in a few weeks ago and already have them back. Go to website click Parts and Service then follow from there. Filled out form online, attached some pics, and few days I was approved for new glasses. Had these for about 10 years, got a brand new pair for free.

Hope you get your Costa issue fixed.

If you decide to switch, Maui Jim makes great lenses too and they have good customer service.

I purchase my Rx MJ’s and eyeglasses through the online site Frames Direct.

Like all things we have different experiences. Costa, Maui Jim, Lew’s, Shimano, Yamaha, Suzuki, Laguna, Waterloo, monofilament, braid, wading boots, logo baseball cap, tinfoil hat.

It’s great to hear all experiences, both the good and the bad.

What chit experience were you subjected to?

I got tired of them a while back and found some under aromurs that were similar to the hammerheads that I liked a lot. Lot cheaper too and when they get too scratched they go into boat for spares or used for outside work. $60 per pair but gettin harder to find.

The real frustration is that when I look at finding a replacement for Costa I have looked into Native, Ray Ban and Maui Jim and two of those three are also owned by Luxottica. Looks like Maui Jim is the only option. Anyone else out there have any input on other manufacturers for Fishing Sunglasses?

I have had a great experience with Luxotica. I had a pair of Galveston readers break. Sent them in. Replaced within a week. Unfortunately, they sent some without readers. I questioned them and they said they quit making them and asked me to pick another pair. I finally got to FTU and tried on a few, called Luxotica and they said send the others back. I got my new pair sent to me as soon as I got a tracking number, which could have been for anything. No complaints here.

I still prefer MJ's and their customer service

After years of going the less expensive route for my prescription sunglasses, I got a pair of Costa frames from my Optometrist with Zeiss lenses, top of the line. Great lenses, but Costa gets no credit for that. After about 14 months, everything rubber started to come off - nose pads and earpiece liners. I called their customer service line and got the explanation that the 2 year warranty was for the frames only, which is where my problem was, but that I had to go through the Optometrist. Optometrist told me Costa would not honor the warranty past 1 year through them. What I should have dome, my bad for not thinking of it, was pop my lenses out, put the ones that came with them back in and sent them off. My bad, but I trusted the schmuck on the phone that the optometrist would take care of it with no problem. I have also stopped using that optometrist because that's the first thing they should have suggested. Either way, the frames are garbage.

I heard for years how awesome Costas were, the best product on the market and my experience was that they are ****. You couldn't give me a pair of their glasses or frames

I just went through the online repair/warranty process with Luxotica they warrantied 3 pairs: 2 Corbinas that the rubber ear pieces & nose pieces had melted off, a brine that the frame cracked. All 3 were over 10 years old & had cracked 580G lenses. I will avoid glass lenses going forward for fishing/utility type glasses. Got 3 new pairs & a discount code. Overall very happy. Isn't a fast process took about 3 weeks per

I bought a pair of costas a few years ago at a bait and tackle store that was having their annual sale and had all the big name reps there including costa. The frame broke above the lens and caused the lens to fall out and crack before i could get home the same day. Took them back and showed the rep what happened and asked if he could warranty them right there or i had to mail them in to do it. He told me i broke them and they wouldnt warranty them. Called costa and told them what happened and they told me to send them in. They drug their feet on fixing them but sent me a new pair about 6 weeks later. Needless to say i sold them when i got them back and havent looked back since.

I finally ended up getting through via phone. Spoke to a CS rep. Asked for a supervisor. Over an hour on hold total. She is taking care of it supposedly. Glasses were sent and arrived there yesterday. So hopefully I will have the replacement by the weekend. Progress but very slow and highly irritating.

Have never had any issues with Costa. They have warrantied glasses for me in the past, and during this covid deal, I sent three in that I found and were damaged; all were warrantied without any questions asked and within a reasonable time frame.
I've owned several high end glasses in my life and Costa are the best all around and the customer service is the best I've ever had.
