A shore tank next to a tanker exploded at Valero Ship Dock #3, and the fire is out. 28 crew members on the tanker abandoned ship, and were able to climb down Jacobs ladders over the side to the M/V Thor and M/V Discovery. No crew members were injured, the crews of the Thor and Discovery responded swiftly to assist them onboard safely and orderly. They are waiting on further instructions from USCG in Corpus Christi, currently the Corpus Christi Harbor is closed west of Tule Lake Bridge.

Here's the latest update I've got on Corpus, as of 17:00/2nd:

"Update for spill in Corpus Harbor. As of this time, daylight only movements will be allowed from the Harbor Bridge inbound to the Tule Lake Lift Bridge with prior approval from the Corpus Harbor Master"s office. Inbound from the Tule Lake Lift Bridge to Flint Hills West, all movements must have a USCG escort arranged through the Corpus Harbor Master on a priority basis only.

"Barges that are located from the Tule Lake Lift Bridge outbound to The Harbor Bridge will be allowed to depart Corpus, but must first be inspected by Citgo's Responsible Party Rep , Tom Fanning, to be sure they have no oil residue on them. Tom Fanning can be reached at ( 361 ) 844-4953.

"Barges located Inbound of the Tule Lake Lift bridge needing to depart Corpus must first get permission and escort, and must be inspected by Valero's Responsible Party Rep , Danny Garcia,( 361 ) 815-6563, to be sure they have no oil residue.

"These RP's will determine suitabliity for departure from the Corpus Harbor.

"These restrictions are, at this time, expected to remain in effect for aprox. 2 more days.
