Went out Friday night and slammed the redfish In north Trinity Bay.

Saved the left over pogie to try them on the jugs in Conroe Saturday night.

Randy and I cpr'd three and caught our limits of eaters. Randy also knocked the first biggun of the evening off the hook with the net. That would have made four gooduns. Wow what a great weekend of fishing.

Thanks a lot Randy enjoyed it as always.

C.P.R. recognition for Medulla762 !!!!

I had read a post the other day, on the net, where someone had posted that they had C.P.R.ed some big trophy catfish. One person that responded to that post thought, that meant " giving chest thumps" on a fish.

C.P.R, which is an acronym for Catch, Photograph and Release, is becoming more and more common place with Fishermen these days, as they see the importance of preserving those big trophy catfish.

Some of you already know Medulla762, and the OUTDOORS MAN that he is. When I first met Medulla, I thought to myself, I love to fish, but this man takes it to another level. He can be on the coast in salt water, fishing that morning, catch a nap, and stay up all night, fishing on a lake.

Medulla displays a sincere and earnest appreciation of the Outdoors, from fishing to duck hunting.

I have had to opportunity to fish with Medulla on several occasions, and he always, displayed the same demeanor. He is always conscious of staying within bag limits, possession limits, and size limits, and I have never seen him fudge. He is one Fisherman that leads by example.

Back in the early spring, I was with Medulla, as we got one of those big trophy catfish in the boat. Medulla had taken to utmost care in handling that fish so it would not harm itself. He even took wet towels and covered it's eyes and body up, until we were able to release it back into the water.

On many many occasions I have seen or read where Medulla actively practices C.P.R.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has a catch and Release Awards program, that gives Anglers special recognition for "live release of trophy class fish"

Medulla /Joe, has caught numerous trophy size fish, that could have easily met the criteria for this program in the past.

This past Saturday night, was no exception, once again Medulla got 3 more trophy class catfish out of Lake Conroe. But this time it had a little twist. Two of these fish met the criteria for the T.P.W.D program.

The applications were accomplished and he should soon get official
recognition for his due diligence, in practicing C.P.R.

Joe, as always it is a pleasure to go fishing with you.
congratulations!!

Thanks Brad,

What you got going on Oct 2-3. Maybe we can burn some brisket and buuuust 'em dubs that weekend.

waterdog, to the best of my knowledge there are no "off limits to jugging" areas on the lake.

I may be able to jug one night this weekend. If you would like to jug at night give me a holler.

No can do that weekend. We are MLD and our deer season opens that weekend. Got a big ol' buck waiting fer me. Are you still dove hunting the south dove opener South of Houston that weekend or are you going to the Muster on Cornrow? Man I wish you could make it that weekend.

Yeah, Hunting dove south of Houston on the opener and then I'll be closing out teal season Saturday and Sunday.

If we get our teal early I may try to get out to the muster but I will not be towing my boat or any jugs.

Virginia gives "release citations" for a lot of "game" species, but unfortunately Catfish aren't one of the species recognised as a game fish. The current "citation" size for catfish is well below (If I recall, it's 20 pounds for Blue Catfish) what most anglers think of as a "trophy" fish. We're trying to convince all fishermen that catfish in excess of ten pounds should be released... Personally, I'm hoping that the recent advisory AGAINST eating any blue catfish from the James River will go a long way to helping manage the fish by default... if people follow the advisory there's no reason, other than getting a piece of paper to hang on the wall, not to CPR trophy class fish. Assuming that the next record fish might come from the James River basin, there's always a chance that a new record may get killed in an effort to certify it, but from what I've been seeing lately and hearing through the grapevine there are tons of fifty-plus pound class fish in the river. The biologists have been performing shock-surveys in the James for years, and they said recently that our fishery is very healthy as far as Blues are concerned... Bass fishermen complain the blues are eating all their precious bass, but I say let the superior species rule the water LOL... if catfish eat bass, they can't be all that "game" to begin with...

Congratulations to Joe on the recognition.... it's far too often we hear about the bad apples, and far too infrequent we hear about one of our own who follows the rules and gets recognised for that... good guys don't sell newspapers....
