Comcast stated that if you lost your cable box in the storm that you have to file it on your insurace or pay the $400.If its damaged bring it back to them.Aren't they generous? Direct TV looks better all the time.

I've had Direct for a year, no problems. Even the dish made it through the hurricane. It reminded me of the commercial years ago where the guy was watching football in tornado alley and a tornado was on the way. The wife was yelling at him to go to the cellar. When they reappeared the house was gone, but then he screamed "woo hoo the dish made it".

If it is available try ATT UVERSE 200 Channels and High speed Internet for $74.00 never lost it durning storm. They offer more channels if you desire. Only time I did not have internet and cable was the 6 hours my power was out. They also set you up with home wirless and set up and free dvr on all receivers.

I have some horrible experiences with Comcast. I won't tell those stories, but I will tell what they did to my neighbor. They haven't had cable, fun, internet ever since the hurricane and have had power since the sunday after the hurricane. So they've been calling them for the last couple of weeks for them to come check it out. Three times in a row they have scheduled a day for them to show up and three times in a row they didn't show up. Come to find out that the last time they were a no show she called them and they informed her that if they get called in for a bigger job that they just don't show up. No call, no nothing. I understand that there is alot of work going on right now because of Ike, but just not showing up and no calling their cell phones is not good business if you ask me. So, now they are dumping Comcast and are going with Dish Network. We have Dish and love it so they decided to do the same. We were only out without power for a day and had our Dish Network service the day we got power. Direct TV isn't bad either, but I just don't like their guide. To me Dish Network's guide is the best in the business and I've seen them all. The channels are arranged such that everything is clumped together by category. Especially for my daughter who likes Disney and such. She goes to channel 170 and just goes up from there. Plus, their DVR is awesome.

You can have up to 6 Receivers/tuners on a DISH or DIRECTV account. Each have free hardware offers for up to four with nominal costs for a fifth or sixth unit. There are lots of discounts to switch right now.

DISH HD/DVR is better than DTV's by a long shot. 2 1/2 times the capacity. DTV has more HD right now, but that is changing rapidly. Both DISH and DTV will have all the mainstream cable channels in HD by 2009. They are waiting on the providers. The extra charges for HD will go away as everything but the niche channels will be in HD. Either are far better alternatives than Comcast.

Something in the storm hit my DTV SAT dish and knocked it out of whack, called DTV and they said they would suspend my service until they could get someone out there. Come to find out they "claimed" no one could be there until Nov. 22, I ended up calling a local cable installer in my area and i had DTV the same afternoon. DTV and DISH are above and beyond any other service but their customer service is far from up to par.

I took my dish down (4 bolts) before the storm and put it back up right after the storm. Works perfectly.
I drank beer before the storm and pulled out the rabbit ears after.

Actually, I did go up there and somewhat fix it but it still doesn't get signal 100% of the time. I can watch some channels but not others. Sometimes the signal goes blank during the day and I can watch at night. Other days it has be reverse. Yesterday I couldn't watch anything so I pulled out the rabbit ears.
