My fishin' padner, Mudbottom, and I hit Cold Pass this mornin' about dark thirty, armed with a quart of shrimp and a dozen fingerling mullet. Tied up to the pier and began to fish. Just after the sun started coming up, a rain shower started coming down and soaked us. I was happy that there was no lightning along with the rain. The sun finally showed and dried us out, but the rain left about a half inch of rain in the boat. I put my rod in the holder and opened up the floor plate to pump out the water. Nothing much was happening right then as far as fishing goes. The water gets pumped out and I look over at my rod, and it has a nice bend in it. I grab it out of the rod holder and it was fish ON! I played with it a few minutes and Mudbottoms nets a solid 26 inch trout for me...whooooo weeeeee! OK! the bite was on, or so we thought. After that trout, there was nothing but leg biters. We moved towards the shore by the pier and tried there. I managed to bring in one red that was 17 inches and one flounder that was 13 1/2 inches, and that was it. We moved back towards the County Park and anchored over the channel drop-off and fished there. I ended up catching 4 more trout there. they were 18 to 22 inches. The reason that I hadn't said much about what Mudbottom caught was because all he caught was one 7 inch tourist trout, and that was it. Ended the day with 5 trout ranging from 18 to 26 inches. It was great to be out on the water...VJER

yea we were there too, if you would'nt have tied on the side you did we would all have tore em up. that was the wrong side on a incoming tide. we were there at 0430 waiting for the bite and so was the boat next to me and it never came except for one 6 pounder that we caught before you got there. thanks.

Why would you want to blame your not cathing on Vjer

I've never had a problem when someone is on one side or the other of a pier, if the fish are there you will catch them. Now I could understand if there was a radio playing load or something like that, but I know Vjer is not that type of fisherman.

they were tied up w/ the boat end to end to the pier. we slammed them the day before
and three boats didnt catch squat the next day. i've caught fish too w/ people on the other side, no problem. but we all (the three boats) thought this guy had no respect for anyone but himself tieing to the pier. shoot.. our bait was right under his boat. if he would have anchored off it a little bit it would have been cool but he wouldnt listen to any of us . he's not the first, actually he was the third person to do that in two months, and they always want to tie up right behind me. oh well you come to expect stuff like that if you fish san luis pass any at all.

Dummies on week days?????

I was also there fishing my favorite gut at Moody catchin some decent keepers.

I was wading the bar throwing into the gut. My boat wasn't 50 yds. away.
Sure enough here comes a butt head running full blast through the gut between me and the island! He's looking around like he's gonna spot a tailing red blowing 25 knots!
Needless to say the bite was off. Luckily the turd didn't anchor or I would have done somethig stupid.

Don't these people have jobs?
