Took my friend and her daughter out in Clear Lake to enjoy the day and drown a few shrimp. Put in under the Kemah bridge about 7:30am headed to the flats. Not much out there so went back in, towards the Hilton. Got to my favoiate spot and landed two nice trout right away.

Jada ended up catching her first offical fish and it happened to be a beautiful 22" red right at 7lbs! Great fight and lots of screaming=) I was really happy for her.

Threw back a half dozen undersized reds and trout but did manage a nice flounder @ 19" 4.5lbs.

everything was caught on live shrimp and popping corks. Overall a great day for being just in the lake, and even better to see her first fish. Now shes hooked!

How thick was the bait at your favorite spot? Were the hardheads and gafftops still thick in there?

Congrats to your daughter for the red. Your right any day you can spend with your kids fishing is a good day, no matter what you catch. At least y'all did pretty good.

bait was pretty good along the shoreline. Caught most of the fish in less than 2.5' of water. Did get a few hardheads, but not as many as usual. Thanks for the reply!
