What are some of your guys recommendations to prevent chumming? Like the human kind?? I get easily seasick but have never used anything like the patch or dramamine. What do you guys recommend? Thanks!

Get busy and do something dont think about it. Run the boat, watch the bottom machine, talk to someone about something (not getting sick) keep it off your mind.
Dont drink too much the nite before by all means.

Fairly light supper and little to no alcohol the night before. A good nights' sleep. Light breakfast (non-greasy).

Don't breathe any exhaust if you can keep from it. Watch the horizon, and as above, run the boat, etc. Anything to keep busy and your mind off the subject. If there is a cabin on the boat, stay out of it!

A bit of carbonated soft drink will help with the queasies. Maybe with some crackers too.

I used to use the patch but it made me so sleepy I couldn't enjoy the trip. After my second or third trip (about thirty years ago) I have not ever been bothered since.

Probably the best remedy is to catch a fish.

I had a problem with that also but think I've found the solution at least for me.
-Like others have said, eat/drink light the night before.
-Take Bonine as directed on the box. Non-drowsy dramamine is the same thing. Original dramamine can make some people (I'm one) just as nauseous as motion sickness.
- Take some ginger snaps to munch on throughout the day.
- Take gingerale to drink.

I've been using this formula for the last year and haven't had even the least bit of nausea. Now I even manage to drink a couple of cold ones while on the water. Hope this helps. Good luck.

My wife's secret, she has tried every known concoction, most of them legal. She uses the electric shocker relief band plus starts non-drowsy dramamine the day before every 8-12 hours. It has cured a serious chummer, I mean one that could chum from the jetties to East Breaks and back. Now she outfishes me on most trips, of course most people on board outfish me.

Just curious

I have never taken anything to prevent motion sickness - and I have never been seasick. Luck I guess. Or, maybe it's the fact that I am usually behind the wheel or otherwise working my butt off!

What does ginger do? Ginger ale? I'm headed off Saturday on a charter and 4 of the 6 going will be popping dramamine. Someone explain the ginger thing.

Soda crackers and peanuts. The crackers nuetralize the acids in your stomach and the peanuts, well, they don't do anything but they look hilarious when they come shooting out someone's nose.

I don't know what the ginger snaps do or the ginger but it works for several of the people that have gone out with me. My sister gets sick going down the ICW ,she uses the fresh ginger and ginger snaps. She just buys fresh ginger and scrapes some off and puts it under her toung.
