Christmas Bay Hunting

I bought a place in Surfside last year and spend as much time down there as I can, mostly fishing. But I also hunt the Eagle Lake area during duck season but have always wondered if anyone ever hunts Christmas Bay; am interested for feedback. Thanks. Rob

Oh, Yea, It Is Hunted. There Are Some Good Areas To Hunt Right There & Close By. X-mas To Me Has Been Best In January. Do A Search On Christmas Bay Or X-mas Bay You Will See A Lot Of Info About Hunting It.
sad3sm .... salt lake and nick's lake are the best.
make sure to tie yourself down or the skeeters will carry you off. i gave up hunting that area years ago. the red heads weren't quite the same table fare imo. i wouldn't take your grandpa's antique browning over n under out there either. it seems like the gun will start rusting before the hunt is over. oh and i can't remember how many times i would see hundreds of birds fly by sky high, to land in the middle of the bay with all their buddies.

yeah you can hunt x-mas bay, but it stopped being worth it to me many years ago...
I love Christmas bay, It's been 6-7 years since I've hunted there but when I lived in Kehma I hunted there all the time.. I would park my truck by the old condo at the end of the road and walk to the West..A lot of good hunts.. If you have a dog the oysters can be a little rough..might want to get some booty's.,. If I had a place in Surfside..I'd be hunting there ...Walker

redheads redheads and more redheads
Yep. I had a couple of good shoots there last year.
I am interested in hooking up for a duck hunt in Christmas Bay this year. You will have a free place to stay as well. Send me a PM and we can figure it all out. Rob
Nuthin but diver ducks over there...and winter fishermen to drift and drive through the dekes....
The old condos are long gone now; the water gets rough and dangerous in a small jon boat; oysters will slice the dogs' feet and the fancy waders...but have at it! It'll keep ya out of the only other decent hunting areas in that part of the county

some of the best hunting spots in christmas cant even be reached by fishing boats thats why a airboat comes in handy
North shore of christmas bay is the Brazoria refuge for the most part and there are some good spots in there. Problem is, it better be cold or you're gonna run across some rattlers. I hate that when I duck hunt, especially solo.

it's called a prodrive or go-devil.... even on low winter tides.
cant hunt salt or nicks. it's the only navigatable water you cant hunt that i know of. to me xmas was great a few years ago but last couple of seasons its been pretty slow to me. the redheads didnt show up much last year . but the latest report on redheads is that the numbers are up so maybe they'll come on over to xmas. i go there in the afternoons all the time and sometimes i do ok and sometimes i just kill insects.
