I usually buy as much as I can from my local bait shop even if they are a little higher. No one else sells sting rays and fresh mullet at 5 in the morning. So I do my part to keep them in business.

I bought the braided cable from my local harware store for 20 cents a foot.

BeachBumCSF (I think that's his name on this board) has good flexible (not the stiff/kinky) cable and other such supplies and I've found him to be the cheapest around.

Southwest Wire Rope on Federal rd (between the Washburn tunnel and I 10) is the cheapest place I've found to buy 1/16 stainless cable. They have a min order, so you need to get a few friends together to make an order. Unless you want a lifetime supply.
They are one of the two big Houston suppliers, that all the smaller places buy from.
