We stopped at the Chappell Hill Cafe for lunch coming back from Austin yesterday. I have a self confessed weakness for good onion rings & usually have to end up making them myself to get them the way I like them. The Chappell Hill Cafe hand batters their rings upon each order & are the best I've ever had. The burgers were awsome as well. It is a little place on the Southeast bound side. There is a little store & a meat market attached to it. Just a heads up on a great place to stop for eats on 290. ;)

I eat there when riding through on the way to the Hill Country.
I've never tried the onion rings. Perhaps next time.

That little grocery store has some great smoked sausage and will slice summer sausage and cheese to order with a sleeve of crackers. Great road trip grub!
