What do you do when you see someone breaking the law while you are fishing? I saw three people cleaning fish along the bank in the river today. Couldn't make out what they were cleaning at first but with closer inspection it looked like schooley specks. We have been catching plenty of them every day this week so it makes sense. I didn't bother to get a positive id because I didn't believe anyone would do anything about it but I would have if I could call a game warden out and he would ticket them. Has anyone ever called the warden and they came out? Can you do that?

Yes, you can the game warden the number is on your fishing license . When you call try to be as discritive as possible of the people your calling about, know what county you in so you tell Texas Parks Widlife People that helps them to no which one of thier officers to send out .

Its not too late, make the call NOW.

These guys will return and do the same thing, people like this tend to be greedy and will continue until stopped.

when you make the call give as much detail as you can in re exact location, date, time, etc.

you are right. I would never call unless i knew for a fact what the fish were and that they were breaking the law. I know i have seen people on the jetties with a ice chest full of all kind of fish and most of which were pin fish and riben fish but in the mix were a few trout and spanish macks that were no where close to size.

not that i dont agree with calling, but you should not be calling without possitive id of the fish.the more bs calls they get, the less likley they are to respond quickly.

Phone number

I don't have a number on my license. Anyway if you are in the Houston/Galveston area do not call Operation Game Thief if you want a quick response. OGT is computer and fax gernerated and there could be up to a 2-3 hour wait before OGT get's the info to the ones that need it. Call 281-842-8100
and you will be speaking directly to the TP&WD law enforcement dispatcher in Laporte. She/he has instant contact with the Wardens in the field. This is not to say don't call OGT, it is a great program and they follow up on every call, it's just a slower process. Gater

My dad and a buddy of his were fishing a Tourney on Conroe like 10 yrs ago and some doffus in a cigarette hull was doing donut and creating a huge wake around a bunch of other small boats. My dad had told a warden about it later and the warden told him that if he had takin down the TX#s that they would have went to his house and ticketed him there. Not sure how this relevent, but im sure it is.

Peace
Jerry
