If any of the owners of the 19' Shoalwater Cat have a raised console and a 150 E tec, I have a question for you. I came across the owners' message board and it said that they were having weight issues with the raised console and the 150s and that this boat when equipped with a raised console was going to be re-rated to 130 max HP when the 130 etec comes out later this month. I would like to know if any of you are experiencing any problems with this combination. My only guess is that added weight of the platform box puts the stern draft of the boat below the level of the scuppers. I ran the tournament boat with a 200 on it and jumped around on the poling platform. This thing was ultra stable so that shouldnt be the issue. Please share your experiences.

Thanks

The weight difference b/t the 115/130 and the 150 is only 52lbs. That shouldnt make a huge difference. Besides, like I said, I test drove the factory's tournament boat that had a 200 on it, which is the same weight as the 150, and it was fine. It drafted more on the stern than at the bow, but most boats do. I am wanting one of these with a raised console and I am just concerned that a 130 wont be enough muscle for that. If the regular console w/ 115 only runs 40, the 130 will probably make up for the added drag of the raised console, but I would perfer to be at least in the mid to upper 40's, which is where the boat with a 150 runs.

Shoalwater 19' Cat

I took the images that were used in that Gander advert mentioned prior. Included a few others here for you guys to check out. I do know this for a fact. The 19' Cat used in that photo shoot drained perfectly at rest with 3 big dudes, massive amount of camera equipment, 30 gal of fuel, combo leaning post/poling platform and the 419lb of motor. Also included some E-tec factory specs for you guys to mull over as you make your decisions.

The new 130hp = 369lb....115hp = 369lb
130 & 115 will have the same 60degree V-4 105.4 cu in.

As far as moving the console forward...the final answer is always best left up to Geno and Steve aka...the guys who designed and build it!!

www.shoalwaterowners.com (owners group website) is up and running Lot's of pics posted and updated daily there as they are sent into them. There is also an owners group message board on that site.

I regularly fish one with a 115 Yamaha 4 stroke. It's pretty back heavy. If two guys are in the boat and both stand in the back it will fill the rear deck with water.
Awesome boat that runs mid 40s with this motor setup. I couldn't imagine this boat with a 200.
