Had Joe Meyer of FTU and Ron Sheperd, his pro staff coordinator down.Friends, Larry Gerdes and Will Drost joined us in search of the big one.We went south due to a lot of fresh water water on the north end.

We jumped out and headed down the shoreline that was loaded with active baitfish. For the next hour or so I witnessed and photographed everyone in the party catching and releasing big trout. We were throwing slow sink mullet imitations and topwaters.

The small trout averaged over 5 lbs. Will Drost of Lake Charles caught and released the two largest specks. The first one pulled the boga grip to a tad over 10 lbs.Thirty minutes later he caught another one right at 9 lbs.It is safe to say it is big trout time on Big Lake!!! Capt Bruce Baugh
