My friends garage, truck and boat caught on fire several weeks ago...he gave me the 96 Evinrude 115 which had about 25 hours of use on it. everything on top is burned.....the cover, all hoses all plastic, even the fiberclass base that the cover sits on. does anyone have any experience with this on whether the inside of the engine, transmission and lower unit would get ruined with the heat. the lower unit still has the paint on it which leads me to believe it didnt get as much heat as the rest of the engine although the oil seals did melt....

The lower unit, clamp, and powerhead are all still probably good. The carbs will need to be rebuilt with new o rings, gaskets, and floats which might have melted in the bowls. It will need a new wiring harness, alarm module, ignition computer, coils, and stator. New oil flow sensors, choke solenoid, temp sensors, etc. Pretty much anything electrical is likely toast. Your best bet is to sell the powerhead and mid/lower units for parts.
