My brother gave me a bow and said he wants me to bow hunt with him. If he is paying "why not". I need to locate a good bow shop to help me get ready. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Bow

I'm in need of the same info. Some where between last deer season and about a week ago my draw string broke in its case. I don't know if it was just old or if the nephews got ahold of it without me knowing. Anyway I have been to H&H in Tomball and really didn't have a real good experience. I kind of felt that the price for the work that was done on the bow was a little high. I have heard of Viking also but that is a pretty good ways to drive from the North side of Houston. Does anyone know of a shop in the Spring, Klein, Tomball, Conroe, etc. area?

I don't know of any others in that area, since I just recently purchased my bow.

I did go to Viking a few weeks ago and was very impressed with their selection and service. 3 times the size of the old Archery Aresenal that used to be on 1960. Back when I had my last bow, we went their to shoot and buy stuff.

BPS also has a big archery dep't.

I'd venture down to Viking Archery, even though it's a long trip. 59 South to
Bissonnet, turn left on Bissonnet (East). Get in your right hand lane. First
street on your right (9701 Honeywell St). They will hook you up.

I got all my stuff at Viking and have been back twice since...for a total of 4 times in there. Even though they have been busy each time, they have been super helpful. Before I got a bow I ask all the bow hunting folks I know in the Houston area where to go...every single one of em said Viking. If I needed something else, that's where I would go...but as mentioned, it's not handy for me either since I live in Cypress.

Having said that, I'd love to hear about the coe archery if you go by.

TEX57,

Thanks for the info. I thought I heard one of my buddies say something about a shop in that area.

I got my first bow from a shop in Conroe, I seem to remember that it was almost downtown. Course that was EONS ago and there is no way I can remember the name of the place.
There should be a shop or two between conroe and spring. But Viking does have a good rep, and they have always treated me right the few times I've made it up there.

For those of you in SW Houston, I saw where they opened an indoor archery range in
Sugar Land @ Settlers Way and Highway 6. I haven't been able to stop by to check it
out yet but I bet they also sell archery equip...

Wildman,
You can also check out Baker's Archery in Porter. they are pretty knowledgeable and I've had good experiences there. Also, Sportsmans Outlet in Humble has a young guy named Chris that works there that is excellent. Don;t know numbers but recommend bith.

New Bow Shop Opening

For all of you north side bowhunters there is a shop opening right next to Carter's Country on Treaschwig. Don't know the opening date but it is supposed to be real soon. If any of you have had the luck I have had with Viking, you will certainly appreciate a shop without all of the drama and attitude.
They are supposed to carry every brand except Hoyt. I shoot a Hoyt but I will still go to the new shop for all of my archery needs. I will post back when I find out the name and opening dates....Come on cold weather!!

Double B Archery

If anyone is still interested, there is a new shop in Conroe off of McCaleb road. It's called Double B Archery. I go out there all of the time and the shop is the nicest bow shop I have ever been in. They also have an indoor shooting range and a dart system.

I think Viking Shut down so check before driving out.

There is a new Bow shop out near Shannondoah not sure of the exact location but a buddy at work has been going there.

Also a new place on the way to Carter's Country off Treshwig (sp) called Bow Stop that is suppose to be pretty nice. I plan to stop there some time on the way home from work next week.

Viking Who?

I drove almost an hour to get hooked up with new strings for my bow and they didn't help at all. Apparently they don't deal Matthews anymore either. I know that other string manufactures make strings that would fit my Matthews bow, but they refused to help me. I will never go back.
I also could not suggest any archery shop that didn't sell either Matthews or Hoyt. They are undeniably the best bows made. Overpriced maybe, but they are the two best.

Finally got a chance

to stop in at Coe's. The bow was way out of tune and they fixed it. They have a nice shooting range also. There is a fair amount of accesories on the wall. They handle Hoyt, Parker and Bowtech. They were very helpful to me as a beginner. Guys I just haven't had a chance to make it to any other shop and this is the closest to the house.
The card reads "We are a little off the beaten trail, but if you are a hunter you will find us"
